Under the Roses Lenormand

"Under the Roses" is a euphemism for buried secrets. The allusion comes from the Latin phrase "Sub Rosa" and dates back to classical Roman times when the rose became the symbol of confidentiality. The expression became well known in German literature eventually finding its way to English literature. Stories based around "Under the Rose" began showing up in the nineteen century and some of the later works were written about that time period.

Under the Roses Lenormand will be published by US Games Systems, Inc. in 2013.

The Lenormand Oracle

Like the Tarot, the Petit Lenormand deck is a form of card divination. The oracle card deck consists of 36 images that are used in combinations to extrapolate meaning. By doing so, one can identify past, present and future impacts on the querent’s life. Lenormand is diverse; it can be used to address life’s deep issues or for mundane inquiries. This provides opportunities to reflect on major issues or have a little fun at a party or gathering.

The origins of the Lenormand Oracle stem from the reputation of Mlle. Lenormand, an infamous card reader who died in 1843. The Grand Lenormand and the Petit Lenormand were named after her and published not long after her death. It is said that she used a 32 card system and tarot as well, though no one knows exactly what she used. Some of her clients were high profile figures and later in her life she took to writing.

Under the Roses Lenormand is a quality deck that is full of inspirational artwork. It contains 36 images based on the Petit Lenormand, an alternate Lady and Gentleman card, and 4 informational cards. It is designed to stimulate the imagination while at the same time making the reading of the cards something even a beginner can do.

The Creators

Kendra Hurteau and Katrina Hill are the co-creators of Under the Roses Lenormand. The have worked hand-in-hand in manifesting the card deck.

Kendra gives readings with both Lenormand and Tarot and commonly uses both in one sitting. As an intuitive cartomancer her readings are practical and she believes it is an opportunity for the querent to receive Divine advice. In addition, Kendra has a background in business.

Katrina is a digital artist and has a degree in Computer Animation. She currently works as a graphic designer.
